Enable 2FA authentication on your account
How to enable two-step verification to protect your Baires Host account.
Why enable 2FA
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Baires Host account. Even if someone obtains your password, they cannot access your account without the second factor.
Step 1: Access security settings
- Log in to the Baires Host client area at billing.baires.host
- Click your name in the top right corner
- Go to Security Settings or My Account → Security
Step 2: Enable 2FA
- Find the Two-Factor Authentication section
- Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication
- Choose your method:
- Authenticator App (recommended) - Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password
- Email verification (less secure but better than nothing)
Step 3: Set up authenticator app
- Install an authenticator app on your phone:
- Authy (recommended - cloud backup)
- Google Authenticator
- Microsoft Authenticator
- 1Password or Bitwarden (if you use a password manager)
- Scan the QR code displayed on screen with your authenticator app
- Enter the 6-digit code from the app to verify setup
- Click Confirm
Step 4: Save backup codes
After enabling 2FA, you'll receive backup codes. Save these securely:
- Store them in a password manager
- Print them and keep in a safe place
- Do NOT store them in plain text on your computer
Each backup code can only be used once. They're your emergency access if you lose your phone.
Using 2FA for login
After enabling 2FA, your login process becomes:
- Enter email and password as usual
- Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app
- (Optional) Check "Trust this device for 30 days" on personal computers
Recovery options
If you lose access to your authenticator:
- Use a backup code - Enter one of your saved backup codes instead of the 6-digit code
- Contact support - Open a ticket from an alternate email with identity verification
- Authy multi-device - If using Authy, you can recover from another device
Best practices
- Use Authy for cloud backup of your 2FA tokens
- Enable 2FA on your email too - Your email is the recovery method for most services
- Keep backup codes updated - Generate new ones if you've used several
- Don't share codes - Baires Host support will never ask for your 2FA code
- Review active sessions - Periodically check and revoke sessions you don't recognize
Disable 2FA (if needed)
- Go to Security Settings
- Click Disable Two-Factor Authentication
- Enter your current 2FA code to confirm
- 2FA will be removed from your account
Note: We strongly recommend keeping 2FA enabled at all times, especially if you manage production servers.
